Why is a mug called a mug?

It most likely derives from "mugg," a Scandinavian word for a drinking vessel. In the 17th and 18th centuries, mugs were often decorated with cartoonishly-drawn human faces. This may have led to the use of "mug" as a synonym for an ugly face.

Why do ceramic travel mugs have a hole in the bottom?

Why Do Coffee Cups Have Holes?

First, when the pottery is fired in the kiln, water that was trapped in the clay is boiled out. In a double layered mug, the steam that forms from water evaporating in between the two layers needs to escape. Hence the hole.

How long can I expect to get the sample?

After you pay the sample charge and send us confirmed files, the samples will be ready for delivery in 6-8 days. The samples will be sent to you via express and arrive in 3-5 workdays.

Can you match a specific color for the glaze on the mugs I am ordering?

Sorry, we cannot guarantee a perfect color match with our glazes due to the limited amount of glaze colors we have as well as the variation in the way our glazes can look on the final product due to the forces of mother nature.
