Are ceramic mugs safe to drink from?

If ceramics are baked for long enough at hot enough temperatures, they may still be safe, but if not, the lead can leach into food and cause lead poisoning. Acidic food or drink is especially likely to cause lead to leach out of ceramics, unfortunately for coffee drinkers with favorite earthenware mugs.

How can you tell if food is ceramic safe?

Lead-containing glazes or decorations on the outside of dishes or non-food surfaces are generally safer to use. The only way to determine if certain crockery has lead is to test it. Home test kits can tell you ifthe dishes have leachable lead. These tests are most useful in detecting high levels of lead.

Does ceramic break easily?

The rub with ceramics is that, while they're tough to scratch, they're* *more prone to cracking compared to metal. ... Some ceramics, like bricks, have large pores. “The larger the pore, the easier it is to break,” Greer says. If you've ever broken a ceramic vase or some such, the break probably originated at a pore.

Why is lead used in ceramic glazes?

The glaze – which may contain lead to facilitate the melting of glaze particles – fuses to the pottery when it is fired in a kiln, a special oven used to bake clay.Because the lead may not fuse into the non-lead glaze, it may contaminate food when the pottery is used with food.

How long can I expect to get the sample?

After you pay the sample charge and send us confirmed files, the samples will be ready for delivery in 6-8 days. The samples will be sent to you via express and arrive in 3-5 workdays.

Can you match a specific color for the glaze on the mugs I am ordering?

Sorry, we cannot guarantee a perfect color match with our glazes due to the limited amount of glaze colors we have as well as the variation in the way our glazes can look on the final product due to the forces of mother nature.
